No Contacts Between Putin, Acting Head of DPR After Zakharchenko's Death Planned - Kremlin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has not yet planned holding any contacts with acting head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Dmitry Trapeznikov after the assassination of DPR leader Alexander Zakharchenko, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Saturday.

BOCHAROV RUCHEY (Russia) (Pakistan Point news / Sputnik - 01st September, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin has not yet planned holding any contacts with acting head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Dmitry Trapeznikov after the assassination of DPR leader Alexander Zakharchenko, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Saturday.

"[The contacts] have not been planned yet. You know that the president's schedule is rather tense now," Peskov said.

The spokesman pointed out that the death of Zakharchenko would result in the escalation of tensions in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donbas.

"The death of Zakharchenko will undoubtedly result in the escalation of tensions in the region, which, of course, does not contribute to the formation of conditions for ... the start of the implementation of the Minsk agreements," Peskov said.

Zakharchenko was killed in a bomb blast in the cafe Separ in downtown Donetsk on Friday. DPR Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Timofeev, who accompanied Zakharchenko, is in a grave condition in a hospital. According to the DPR Emergencies Ministry, two people were killed and 11 more were injured by the blast. Six of those wounded were hospitalized. A DPR lawmaker told Sputnik that apart from Zakharchenko his bodyguard was killed in the blast.

The Russian Foreign Ministry and DPR officials said that Kiev was behind the assassination. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), in its turn, said it was not involved in the murder.
