MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 30th August, 2018) Terrorists in the Syrian Idlib cannot be allowed to use civilians as a human shield, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said Thursday.
"An agreement to continue uncompromising struggle against terrorists, which are now concentrated mostly in the Idlib region, was reached within the framework of Astana. This problem must be solved but, of course, we understand the importance of minimizing damage to civilians," Bogdanov told reporters.
The deputy minister noted that "consultations are currently underway to eliminate terrorists, for this it is necessary to separate them from the opposition that participates in the negotiations in the Astana format, and to prevent terrorists from using the civilian population as a human shield."
