Afghan Security Forces Arrest 4 IS Terrorists in Kabul - Reports

Afghan's National Directorate of Security (NDS) arrested four militants of the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, outlawed in Russia) in the country's capital of Kabul, local media reported.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 29th August, 2018) Afghan's National Directorate of Security (NDS) arrested four militants of the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, outlawed in Russia) in the country's capital of Kabul, local media reported.

According to the TOLOnews broadcaster, the NDS arrested the terrorists, who had weapons in their possession, in Kabul's civilian area PD5. They had previously been hiding in the Qargha dam located in the vicinity of Kabul. The terrorists, pretending to be taxi drivers, used their vehicles to carry weapons and IS members to different Afghan provinces.

The captured terrorists reportedly used to recruit new members for the IS.

The outlet reported, citing the NDS, that weapons, a vest covered in explosives and a vehicle had been seized at the location.

Afghanistan has long been in a state of turmoil, with the government fighting the IS and the Taliban insurgency. The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces are conducting joint counterterrorist operations across the country.
