Over 150 Refugees Return to Syria From Lebanon Over Past 24 Hours - Refugee Center

Over 150 Syrian refugees returned to their home country from neighboring Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Syrian office of the Russian Center for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees said on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 29th August, 2018) Over 150 Syrian refugees returned to their home country from neighboring Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Syrian office of the Russian Center for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees said on Wednesday.

"Over the past day, a total of 152 people (46 women and 78 children) left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus , and al-Qusayr checkpoints," the center said in a daily bulletin.

According to the bulletin, while almost 7 million registered Syrian refugees are currently residing abroad, a total 238,639 people have returned to Syria from other countries since September 2015.

A total of 808 internally displaced Syrian refugees have returned to their homes over the past 24 hours, including 87 people to Eastern Ghouta and 721 to Deir ez-Zor and Homs provinces, the bulletin said.

Syria has been devastated by years of violent civil war which had prompted millions of people to flee hostilities from the areas where they lived to other locations in Syria and outside the country.

The Russian Center for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees was created in late July as part of Moscow's assistance to Syria in the process of the country's transition to peaceful life.
