"The Chinese firm obtained Clinton's emails in real time as she sent and received communications and documents through her personal server," the Daily Caller reported, citing two anonymous sources - a former intelligence official and a "government staff official," both of whom were briefed on findings of the Intelligence Community Inspector General (ICIG).
The Chinese wrote code that was embedded in the server that Clinton kept in her residence in the state of New York, the report explained.
"The code generated an instant "courtesy copy" for nearly all of her emails and forwarded them to the Chinese company," the report said.
The ICIG discovered the anomaly in the Clinton server "pretty early in 2015," and alerted the FBI, according to the report.
The sources declined to name the company, but said the firm worked as a front for the Chinese government, according to the Daily Caller.
Revelations that Clinton used her own email system while serving as Secretary of State for former President Barack Obama became a key issue in the final weeks of the 2016 presidential campaign, widely blamed for contributing to President Donald's Trump's upset victory.
