Hamza Ali Abbasi requests peaceful protests over Netherlands’ blasphemous caricatures contest

Says this is not freedom of speech, this is cruelty

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 28th August, 2018) Actor Hamza Ali Abbasi has condemned the Dutch Parliamentarian Geert Wilders' announcement to hold the blasphemous cartoon competition in the garb of freedom of expression.

In a video message, the actor said, “Whether we are good Muslims or bad Muslims but whenever it comes to Prophet (PBUH), we get very emotional.”

“I am very disgusted. Just like all Muslims are not bad, all the people in Western society also aren’t bad. Majority people are nice. This is a very small segment in West, in Netherlands or the US. They do it with the intention of provoking Muslim community,” he said.

“I request the Tehreek-e-Labbaik (TLP) to give protest calls wisely. Pakistan is weak economically and politically. Closing the embassy or carrying out long marches would not help. It would only affect the Pakistanis residing in Netherlands,” the Parwaaz Hai Junoon star said.

“The prime minister of Holland has repeatedly said in his statements that this person is not a part of the government. They have condemned and distanced themselves from this. We are thankful to them,” he added.

Abbasi further said that we need to strengthen Pakistan so we have a strong voice in the world.

“This is not freedom of speech, this is cruelty,” he said.

Muslims across the world are condemning the announcement and discussing various measures to sensitize the non-Muslims on the sensitivity of the issue and to prevent the event from taking place.
