Russian Orthodox Church Delegation to Visit North Korea in October - Patriarch Kirill

A delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) will visit North Korea in October to take part in celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and North Korea, head of the ROC Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill said on Monday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th August, 2018) A delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) will visit North Korea in October to take part in celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and North Korea, head of the ROC Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill said on Monday.

"I am happy to note that in the northern part of Korea, in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea [DPRK], the North Korean Society of Orthodox believers has been established and is actively working. This year we will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between our countries, and I intend to send a delegation to your country to participate in the relevant celebrations," Patriarch Kirill said at a meeting with the chairman of the North Korean Orthodox committee in Moscow.

Patriarch Kirill also expressed gratitude to the leadership of North Korea for the construction of an Orthodox church in Pyongyang in honor of the Holy Trinity, which, as he said, has become a "symbol of Russian-Korean friendship."
