US companies are interested in implementing gas production projects in Ukraine, Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly said Monday.
KIEV (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th August, 2018) US companies are interested in implementing gas production projects in Ukraine, Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly said Monday.
"Speaking about the continuation of traditional [cooperation], it is the deliveries of energy resources. But we will also be discussing seriously future projects, the United States is taking interest in gas production in Ukraine and in other projects," Chaly said at a press conference in Kiev.
The ambassador added that Kiev had been actively developing cooperation with US company Westinghouse on the deliveries of nuclear fuels, and the Holtec firm to set up a storage facility for spent nuclear fuel and implement a project to build small nuclear reactors.
In November, Ukraine's National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom and Holtec started the construction of a storage facility for spent nuclear fuel in the Chernobyl area. According to the Ukrainian authorities, the project will help Ukraine to become independent in the reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel.
