Kiev is expecting a visit from NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy Alejandro Alvargonzalez on September 13-14, the deputy director of the Ukrainian Government Office for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration said on Monday.
KIEV (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th August, 2018) Kiev is expecting a visit from NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy Alejandro Alvargonzalez on September 13-14, the deputy director of the Ukrainian Government Office for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration said on Monday.
"We are expecting a visit from Assistant Secretary General for Security Policy Alejandro Alvargonzalez, who should be in Ukraine on September 13-14," Oleksiy Genchev, who heads the department for cooperation with NATO, said, according to the UNN news agency.
In July, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed a law, which reaffirmed Ukraine's interest in joining NATO and set it as one of the key national priorities.
In 2014, Ukraine abandoned its non-aligned status, which allowed it to consider joining NATO.
