Luhansk Militia Records No Ceasefire Violations by Ukrainian Forces Over Last 2 Days

The militia of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) said on Monday that the truce with the Ukrainian forces had been observed on the LPR territory over the past two days.

LUHANSK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th August, 2018) The militia of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) said on Monday that the truce with the Ukrainian forces had been observed on the LPR territory over the past two days.

The latest of the ceasefire regimes, which the parties to the Donbas conflict have been trying to implement, took effect on July 1.

"Over the past 24 hours, no violations have been registered. The ceasefire has been observed, as it was yesterday," the LPR militia press service said.

The conflict in Donbas started in 2014, when Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics that refused to recognize the new government in Kiev, which came to power as a result of what Donbas residents considered to be a coup. In February 2015, the warring parties signed the Minsk peace accords to end the hostilities in the region. Despite this, the situation has remained tense, with both parties accusing each other of ceasefire violations.
