A plane of the Russian Emergencies Ministry delivered 36 tonnes of humanitarian relief to Laos on Saturday as the Asian country has been recently hit with floods, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 25th August, 2018) A plane of the Russian Emergencies Ministry delivered 36 tonnes of humanitarian relief to Laos on Saturday as the Asian country has been recently hit with floods, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"On August 25, 36 tonnes of various cargoes, including two mobile power stations, boats, tents, blankets, rice and sugar, were delivered on special flight by the Russian Emergencies Ministry," the statement read.

Russia provided aid at the request of Laotian authorities. In mid-July, heavy rains led to a collapse of a dam in Attapeu province of Laos, bordering Cambodia and Vietnam.

The death toll from the floods in Laos stands at over 45 people, while some 130 are missing, according to media reports. The disaster reportedly affected 14 out of the country's 18 provinces.
