US B-52 Bombers Carry Out �Pitch Black Training Mission In Australia - Pacific Air Forces

(Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 24th August, 2018) US nuclear-capable B-52 long-range strategic bombers have carried out a pair of training missions in Australia as part of the bilateral Pitch Black exercises, the Pacific Air Command said in a news release on Friday.

"Air Force B-52H Stratofortress bombers assigned to the 96th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron, Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, conducted two sequential bilateral training missions to Australia as part of exercise Pitch Black 18," the release said.

Pitch Black is a biennial exercise designed to enhance flight operations and proficiency between participating nations and it provided an opportunity for US bombers to integrate with Australias defense force to maintain levels of bilateral cooperation, the release explained.

During the missions, the B-52s integrated with Royal Australian Air Force and other Australian forces and conducted training August 6 and 13 near the Air Force Base Tyndall, the release said.
