US To Join 5-Nation Security Ministerial In Australia Next Week - Homeland Dept.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 24th August, 2018) US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen will participate in a five-nation ministerial in Australia next week on public safety and terrorist threats, the department announced in a press release on Friday.

"The five-country Ministerial brings together senior security officials from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States to discuss ways to deepen collaboration on public safety issues and to jointly confront persistent and emerging homeland security threats," the release said.

While in Australia, Nielsen will discuss DHS efforts to elevate US security standards and thwart American enemies and adversaries, the release explained.

The US wants to coordinate action on a range of homeland security issues, including aviation security, border security, countering emerging threats such as those posed by weaponized or nefarious drones, confronting human trafficking, enhancing counterterrorism, mitigating cyber threats, and protecting critical infrastructure, according to the release.
