Rossiya Segodnya Director General Says Music Unites People, Makes Sanctions Absurd

KOKTEBEL (Crimea) (Pakistan Point news / Sputnik - 24th August, 2018) Sanctions are ludicrous and pointless when it comes to music that unites people, Director General of Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency Dmitry Kiselev said on Friday ahead of the opening of a three-day international Jazz festival in Crimea.

"Sanctions are absurd and pointless, ordinary people, musicians ... will always find ways to unite ... Crimea should unite [people] ... and it is the mission of our festival," Kiselev, the festival's co-founder, said at a press conference.

Jazz bands from different countries, including Russia, India, China, Armenia and the United States, will participate in the event, which was first held in 2003.

Among the festival's media partners are Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency, broadcasters Rossiya 1, Rossiya-Kultura, Rossiya 24, radio Mayak, radio Kultura, Vesti FM radio station, Radio Rossii.

Krasny Kvadrat media company is the organizer of the festival.
