IS Attack In Western Libya Kills 4 Security Personnel - Reports

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 23rd August, 2018) An armed attack by the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, banned in Russia) on a security checkpoint between western Libyan cities of Zletin and Khums left four security personnel killed and three others wounded, local media reported on Thursday, citing security department chief Mohammed Buhajar.

The three injured officials were sent to an intensive care unit following the attack, Buhajar told the Alnabaa tv channel.

According to the broadcaster, one of the three attackers was killed while two others managed to flee.

Libya has been in a state of turmoil since 2011, when a civil war broke out in the country and long-standing leader Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown. As a result, Libya was fractured into multiple zones ruled by competing Islamist militias and infiltrated by terrorist groups such as the IS.
