MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 23rd August, 2018) Kabul made an independent decision not to attend the Moscow format meeting on Afghanistan on September 4, it has nothing to do with the US move, Afghan Foreign Ministry spokesman Sibghatullah Ahmadi told Sputnik on Thursday.
On Tuesday, a US Department of State official said that the United States would not take part in the meeting and believed the initiative would not yield any progress toward a peace settlement in the country.
�We decided independently [not to participate] as a sovereign country," Ahmadi said.
