MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 23rd August, 2018) A rival of Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said Thursday he had called for a fresh vote on who should lead the ruling Parliamentary Liberal Party.
"A few minutes ago I spoke with Malcolm Turnbull to advise him I believed the majority of the party room no longer supported his leadership. Accordingly, I asked him to convene a party room meeting at which I would challenge for the leadership of the Parliamentary Liberal Party," Peter Dutton tweeted.
A prime minister in Australia leads the party in control of the parliament. Turnbulls Liberals are senior partners in a coalition with the Nationals. But his government has been in turmoil amid ministerial resignations. He won a party leadership contest on Tuesday but dissent continued.
