MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd August, 2018) Russian ammunition manufacturer Techmash, a subsidiary of Rostec state corporation, carried out preliminary tests of small-caliber artillery shells that have a remotely controlled detonation system, Techmash Director General Vladimir Lepin told Sputnik.
These shells have fuses with artificial intelligence that are programmed to detonate at a certain time in order to maximize the damage of the target they are approaching.
"We have successfully conducted demonstration tests of small-caliber artillery shells for armored combat vehicles equipped with a remotely controlled detonation system. As a result, it was decided that tests at the state level would be carried out," Lepin said.
Yuri Nabokov, the director general of Pribor, which is a part of Techmash, said earlier that Russia's newest Terminator tank support fighting vehicles would be equipped with these remotely controlled shells by 2020.
