Putin Says Discussed With Finnish President Settlement Of Crises In Syria, Ukraine

BOCHAROV RUCHEY (Russia) (Pakistan Point news / Sputnik - 22nd August, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday said that he had discussed the settlement of conflicts in Syria and Ukraine with his Finnish counterpart Sauli Niinisto during the latter's working visit to Russia.

"We spoke about the issues related to settlement in Syria and southeastern Ukraine. We will have another opportunity to discuss these issues with the [Finnish] president in detail," Putin said at a press conference in Sochi.

After the press briefing, Putin and Niinisto are expected to have informal talks during a boat tour.

"In general, the negotiations with the president of Finland were quite informative, they will undoubtedly contribute to further development [of bilateral relations]," the Russian president said.

Putin noted that the talks were held in a "constructive atmosphere."

The previous meeting between Putin and Niinisto took place in July following the Russian president's summit with his US counterpart Donald Trump in Helsinki.
