Kremlin Says Lukashenkos Remarks About Russia Allegedly Ignoring Obligations Trivial

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd August, 2018) Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko's recent harsh remarks about Russia are just a minor setback that will be settled through a dialogue between the two countries' leaders, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

Earlier in August, Lukashenko said that Russia had not fulfilled its obligations within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and created a situation of unfair competition.

"Let's not forget that Belarus is our closest ally and economic partner. We have such deep relations in all spheres that these relations cannot exist without some minor setbacks. These are ordinary setbacks which can be settled. It is for this purpose that the two presidents have meetings," Peskov told reporters.

He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin would meet with Lukashenko in Sochi later in the day.

"Today, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is arriving here in Sochi for a working visit. And President [Putin] will continue his working day with contacts with the leader of Belarus. We also expect that they will attend a sports event together late in the evening," Peskov told reporters.

According to the Belarusian president's press service, the two presidents are expected to discuss a wide range of issues regarding the development of Belarusian-Russian cooperation, international agenda, as well as cooperation within integration associations and at international forums.
