Russia has ambitions to overtake the United States and become the world's largest exporter of arms, Russian state arms exporter Rosoboronexport's Director General Alexander Mikheev said on Tuesday.
KUBINKA (Moscow Region) (Pakistan Point news / Sputnik - 21st August, 2018) Russia has ambitions to overtake the United States and become the world's largest exporter of arms, Russian state arms exporter Rosoboronexport's Director General Alexander Mikheev said on Tuesday.
"Of course, we have ambitions ... We want to budge [the United States] and take the lead," Mikheev told reporters.
Mikheev said Russia would soon start promoting new products, including Karakurt-Class missile corvettes, light amphibious tank destroyer Sprut-SDM1, Viking air defense missile system and Armata tank.
According to a report released by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) in March, the United States accounted for 34 percent of all global arms sales in 2013-2017, while Russia's share stood at 22 percent.
