CJP's dams fund receives donations of over Rs1bn

Rs 1,139,720,000 has been received in the fund so far.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 21st August, 2018) The fund dedicated for the construction of Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand dams has so far received over Rs 1 billion from various individuals and groups.

The amount donated for the chief justice dams fund has crossed over Rs 1 billion as Rs 1,139,720,000 has been received in the fund so far.

The Fund has been established by the SBP on the directions of the Supreme Court. All the commercial and micro-finance banks, and field offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation have opened the Fund account to receive donations in cash, and through cheques, pay orders and demand drafts at all their branches across the country.

The trend was started by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar himself who donated Rs 10 lac for the construction of dams.

Following the chief justice, ISPR DG Major General Asif Ghafoor said that the officers of Pakistan Army, Navy and Air Force contributed their two-day pay, while soldiers one-day pay for this national cause.

Senate Chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani also announced a donation of Rs1.5 million in the funds meant for the construction of Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand dams.

Meanwhile, Habib Bank Ltd announced to donate Rs 10 crore for the construction of dams while the employees of Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) announced to contribute their one-day salary in the construction of Bhasha and Mohmand dams.

Officers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government contributed their three-day salary to the fund for the construction of Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams.

Caretaker Minister for Foreign Affairs Abdullah Hussain Haroon donated the entire salary of his tenure in the Fund-2018 meant for the construction of these dams.

Allama Syed Iftikhar Hussain Naqvi, a renowned scholar and member Council of the Islamic Ideology (CII) donated his one month salary for Dams Construction Fund.

Judges of Islamabad High Court (IHC) donated Rs 1 lac each while Veterans of Pakistan (formerly PESA) have also decided to contribute from their monthly pensions.

The Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) also contributed Rs20 million to Chief Justice’s Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Damn Fund.

Moreover, a student from Bannu also announced to donate the money prize he received upon getting a position in Matric exams to the dams fund, a nine-year-old Ali Sher donated Rs 10,000 for the dams fund by saving his pocket money and selling his toys while a fruit seller from Kamalia donated Rs 5000 for the construction of dams.

Medical universities and institutions of Punjab on Monday donated Rs 16.943184 million for the construction of dams in the country.
