Rivers Indus, Kabul continue to flow in low flood

The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has said that Rivers Indus and Kabul continue to flow in low flood at Guddu and Warsak respectively.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Aug, 2018 ) :The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has said that Rivers Indus and Kabul continue to flow in low flood at Guddu and Warsak respectively.

According to daily FFC report on Monday, all other main rivers (Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi & Sutlej) are flowing normal.

Actual river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela Dam has attained its maximum conservation level of 1550.00 feet.

Mangla Dam on the other hand is still 71.25 feet below its MCL of 1242.00 feet, presently at 1170.75 feet.

So far our main reservoirs have gained 65.60 % of the combined live storage of 13.681 MAF (34.40% capacity still to be filled).

Dam safety guidelines are being fully enforced by the Dam Management Authorities in the entire reservoir operation, besides IRSA ensuring judicious water management.

According to Flood Forecasting Division (FFD), Lahore, a fresh monsoon low has developed over Northwestern Bay of Bengal (India).

Its further movement and intensity is being ascertained. Yesterday's trough of Westerly Wave has now moved away Eastwards, whereas seasonal low still persists over Northwestern Balochistan.

Moist currents from Arabian Sea are penetrating into upper parts of the country upto 4000 feet.

For the ensuing 24 hours, Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore has predicted mainly dry weather over most parts of the country.

Nevertheless isolated thunderstorm/rain is expected over the upper catchments Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi & Sutlej including Rawalpindi & Gujranwala Divisions of Punjab during the same period.

No significant rainfall event occurred duringthe past 24 hours except for 05 mm at Tarbela
