MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th August, 2018) A suicide attacker died after he detonated his explosives during the Afghan security forces' operation in the eastern province of Nangarhar, while four of his accomplices were arrested, local media reported on Monday.

The Khaama Press news Agency reported, citing the provincial government's statement, that the National Directorate of Security initiated the operation in Nangarhar's capital of Jalalabad after receiving a tip-off. The attacker and their accomplices were hiding inside a religious school.

On Thursday, Afghan security forces detained seven militants who had been planning to detonate a bomb in Jalalabad either during Sunday's Independence Day celebrations or Islamic holiday Eid al-Adha, due to be marked this week.

Afghanistan has been in a state of turmoil for years over the activities of various terrorist and militant organizations, including the Taliban, across the country. Over the past few months, Jalalabad has suffered a number of deadly attacks, including one on the Refugees and Repatriation Directorate, an education department office and a stadium.
