MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th August, 2018) Kabul welcomes the Taliban's readiness to release prisoners and hopes it would have a positive effect on negotiations, Afghan Ambassador to Russia Abdul Qayyum Kochai said on Monday.
On Sunday, the movement promised to release hundreds of Afghan prisoners, but did not respond to Kabul's unilateral declaration of ceasefire to mark the Eid-al-Adha Muslim holiday.
"That is good information. We appreciate it. God forbid that would happen. This will certainly have an impact on the conversation between the Taliban and Afghan Government," the diplomat said.
