Russia's Current Arms Export Orders Portfolio Exceeds $45 Bln - Defense Cooperation Chief

The current portfolio of foreign orders for Russian weaponry and military equipment is worth more than $45 billion, Director of the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) Dmitry Shugaev said in an interview with Sputnik on Monday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th August, 2018) The current portfolio of foreign orders for Russian weaponry and military equipment is worth more than $45 billion, Director of the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) Dmitry Shugaev said in an interview with Sputnik on Monday.

Russia has been selling defense products worth about $15 billion annually for the past few years.

"Our portfolio of orders keeps on average at more than $45 billion, and this is one of the most important indicators. If it is stable, it means that new contracts are being concluded while the existing contracts are being implemented, that is, there is a constant and fruitful work," Shugaev said.

Speaking about the results of the first half of 2018, Shugaev stressed that Russia was "on schedule" regarding the delivery of weaponry to foreign customers and "even slightly ahead of it."

"It indicates that even despite the sanctions pressure we remain a reliable partner and fully comply with our obligations to partners," Shugaev stressed.

In August 2017, Russia's portfolio of export orders for the country's military equipment was slightly higher, standing at the level of $47-50 billion, with half of orders accounting for combat aviation, according to the FSMTC data.
