Last-minute rush at cattle markets across country

Cattle markets across country jam-packed with buyers for the sacrificial animals as customers throng the different markets to collect their animals on the last days before Eid-UL-Azha on Monday.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Aug, 2018 ) :Cattle markets across country jam-packed with buyers for the sacrificial animals as customers throng the different markets to collect their animals on the last days before Eid-UL-Azha on Monday.

A report aired by a private news channel said, Cattle traders are expecting for a good business ahead of Eid-UL Azha as the sale of sacrificial animals is getting momentum with each passing day.

Vendors established illegal cattle sales points at locations close to the population to attract customers and earn much.

"Cattle trading is a profitable business during Eid-UL Azha, this is the reason, I sell sacrificial animals every year.", Hashmat Khan, a cattle trader, said.

Another trader Waqar Ali said that he breeds sacrificial animals throughout the year for selling them ahead of Eidul Azha.

He said "this is my main source of income and it gives me handsome earnings which are sufficient for my family for whole the year." Though there are thousands of animals available in the markets, but their prices are quite high that they are out of reach for an average man. Tough bargaining situation is being witnessed between traders and buyers, as traders expressed their difficulties caused by inflation.

All kind of livestock including cows, bulls, camels, goats, lambs are becoming the part of cattle markets across the country, proving to be equally important for the Islamic festival.

Ijaz Amin, who had come to purchase a goat told that it seems that he would not be in a position to purchase a desired goat in Rs 25000-60000. He said his family was frequently asking him to visit the animal market so he has come here.

A trader Hashmi Khan said majority of the visitors consider that traders sale out sacrificial animal at higher rates but they were unaware of facts that how it was difficult for traders to purchase and transport an animal.

A government servant Usman Ikram who had come to buy a sacrificial animal told that prices of goats have gone away from the reach of poor people. His children were instating from couple of days to visit cattle markets to purchase a sacrificial animal.

He said prices of goats ranges between Rs 20000 to 80000, which was not possible for a common man to purchase a costly sacrificial animal.

He said his children were insisting of purchasing a goat but the prices are not in his reach.

Not only cattle markets, but stalls set up for decorations of livestock, are also carrying variety of stuff. Buyers are rushing towards stalls to buy the decorating stuff, and make their animal look the best.
