CTP Lifts 2374 Vehicles, 2736 Motorcycles On Parking Rules Violations; Starts Checking Of Overcharging By Transporters

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Aug, 2018 ) :City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi lifted 2374 vehicles and 2736 motorcycles on violation of parking rules during August and also removed encroachments from different areas to facilitate the road users.
According to CTP spokesman, traffic police under a campaign removed encroachments from different areas and handed over to TMA.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi SSP, Muhammad Bin Ashraf on Sunday visited different city areas and checked arrangements made to regulate city traffic to facilitate the citizens ahead of Eid ul Azha.
The CTO directed the traffic police officers not to allow anyone to park vehicle in no parking areas and also remove encroachments from the roads.
The spokesman informed that CTP has also launched a grand operation against transporters, overcharging the passengers particularly those who are going to their hometowns to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with the near and dear ones.
The transporters have been warned to avoid from overcharging, otherwise, strict action in accordance with the law would be taken.
The public service vehicles found involved in overcharging, overloading and other severe violations will be issued challan slips and imposed heavy fines.
He said that special squads of city traffic police were formed that were conducting raids and checking the overcharging.
The CTO has directed the DSPs traffic, sector in-charges and wardens to perform their role effectively to check the overcharging in public transport.
A special cell had also been established to receive public complaints and people can lodge their complaints against overcharging by transporters through helpline 1915 and 051-9272616, he added.
