ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Aug, 2018 ) :Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq,in Indian occupied Kashmir, has said that after failing to suppress the Kashmiris through use of brute force, India is now using courts to further its nefarious designs in the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing a gathering in Srinagar said that the Joint Resistance Leadership had devised a strategy to frustrate Indian government's plans to repeal hereditary state subject law of Jammu and Kashmir Article 35-A.
Indian Supreme Court will hear the petitions seeking abrogation of Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution, which grants special rights and privileges to the permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Mirwaiz said, the leadership and people are ready for an agitation if any adverse judgment is awarded by the Supreme Court. "If they try to even tinker the rights of Kashmiri people in a miniscule manner, a prolonged agitation would start that very moment," he said.
The forum Chairman said that to intimidate the people in south Kashmir, the Indian forces' personnel were forcefully entering residential homes, beating youth and damaging the properties. He said, they are also trying to threaten and create problems for the workers of resistance parties by raiding their houses.
The Mirwaiz said, since last year the Indian authorities have been using National Investigation Agency and Enforcement Directorate to harass and arrest pro-freedom people. He said the dead cases having no merit are being re-opened to implicate the Hurriyat leadership in false cases. "Syed Ali Gilani has been served a notice. Muhammad Yasin Malik has also been shot a notice. They are trying to threaten us but we won't be intimidated by their tactics," he said, adding that the Kashmiris would not rest till the present movement reached its logical conclusion.
The Mirwaiz appealed to the people of Kashmir to celebrate the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha with simplicity and austerity.
