MESEBRG (Germany) (Pakistan Point news / Sputnik - 19th August, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed during the Saturday talks their concern over some countries' unpredictable decisions to introduce tariffs, which may have a negative impact on the global economy, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Sunday.
"[The parties] discussed international trade and economic relations and expressed mutual concern over unpredictable decisions, especially in the sphere of tariffs, taken by some states, which may finally have negative consequences for the whole system of trade and economic ties," Peskov told reporters.
In late March, the United States imposed tariffs of 25 percent on steel and 10 percent on aluminum imports. On August 10, US President Donald Trump authorized the doubling of steel and aluminum tariffs on Turkey, up to 50 and 20 percent, respectively.
