Mohammed Al-Gergawi assures flood-affected Indian State of Kerala of UAE support

Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and The Future, telephoned the Chief Minister of Indian state of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, and conveyed the condolences on behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum

DUBAI, (Pakistan Point News - 19th Aug, 2018) Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and The Future, telephoned the Chief Minister of Indian state of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, and conveyed the condolences on behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; and the people and government of the UAE, to the victims of the floods in Kerala that have claimed more than 320 lives and left over 150,000 people homeless, in what has become the most devastating floods in the state in a century.

He additionally discussed the relief requirements of the state with the Kerala Chief Minister, noting that the directives of the UAE leaders were to provide all forms of support for those affected in Kerala and to unite all efforts in the country towards relief and aid operations.

Plans are also underway to support the Indian government in its endeavors to contain the disaster and help all the victims of the natural disaster, in the spirit of the brotherly and historical ties between the two countries, he stressed during the call.

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa on Friday directed the formation of an urgent national committee chaired by the Emirates Red Crescent Society and humanitarian organizations in the country, with the help of the Indian community in the UAE to aid the flood victims in Kerala. Several humanitarian organisations immediately responded to His Highness the President's directives, along with many private sector institutions operating in the country.
