Later on Saturday, Kneissl will marry businessman Wolfgang Meilinger at a ceremony at the Gasthaus Tscheppe restaurant, located in the southern Austrian state of Styria.
According to the Kronen Zeitung newspaper, 50 officers of the Cobra special unit will help the police in ensuring the solemn event's security. In addition, the area near the restaurant where the wedding will be held and the nearby roads are closed for traffic for several hours.
The event has garnered meticulous media attention due to the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the wedding. The Russian leader was invited by Kneissl during his latest visit to Vienna on June 5.
Media previously reported that security is the top-priority issue at the restaurant where the wedding ceremony takes place. Enhanced security checks are also conducted at Austrian airport Graz Thalerhof.
