Dozens of Cities Take Part in Global Ancient Cities Forum in Russia's Ryazan - Local Gov't

Representatives from over 40 cities around the world that were founded over 500 years ago are taking part in the first international forum of ancient cities, which is currently being held in the Russian city of Ryazan, the regional government said on Friday.

RYAZAN (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th August, 2018) Representatives from over 40 cities around the world that were founded over 500 years ago are taking part in the first international forum of ancient cities, which is currently being held in the Russian city of Ryazan, the regional government said on Friday.

"Over 120 events with the participation of 40 cities from 14 countries are being held as part of the forum," the Ryazan Region government said.

A solemn opening ceremony of the embassy of world's ancient cities has been held within the framework of the event. In order to involve Ryazan's inhabitants and guests in projects of urban development, an open lecture hall was set up, where experts in the fields of urban science, media, museum sciences and tourism, and urban development will give 11 lectures.

The region's Governor Nikolai Lyubimov stressed that the forum had made a considerable contribution to the promotion of the Ryazan Region as a territory attractive for tourists.

The first international forum of ancient cities is being held in Ryazan on August 12-19. The forum aims to consolidate the Russian and international communities around the idea of preserving and developing ancient cities and development of intercultural cooperation. Ryazan was founded in 1095.
