According to the Maan news agency, Israeli soldiers opened fire at dozens of young Palestinians who had arrived at the border to participate in a demonstration in the framework of the Great March of Return, the Palestinian protest campaign against Israel, two hours before the start of the event.

Another Palestinian was injured by the Israeli forces in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, while two others were injured in the eastern al-Breij refugee camp, the news outlet added.

Tensions between the Israelis and the Palestinians near the Gaza border have been mounting since the end of March.
