NDMA Provides 250 Food Bags, 110 Tents During Monsoon

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in its daily monsoon situation report accounts relief provided during the season 2018 as 250 food bags and 110 tents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Gilgit Baltistan (GB) affected areas.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Aug, 2018 ) :National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in its daily monsoon situation report accounts relief provided during the season 2018 as 250 food bags and 110 tents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Gilgit Baltistan (GB) affected areas.
According to the report on Friday, the district and provincial disaster management authorities in GB and KPK actively responded during heavy monsoon rains and provided relief to the affected people.
The provincial disaster management authority (PDMA) KP, gave 50 tents, GB district management authority (GBDMA) provided 60 tents and 250 bags were handed over to the victims of heavy rains by GBDMA.
The report also stated 3 deaths and 26 houses damaged in KP and Azad Jammu and Kashmir during last 24 hours.
The railway routes and roads situation in the report was mentioned as all district roads in District Abbottabad, KPK were cleared and open for traffic while on August 13, Hisper Valley Road was blocked due to landslide and restoration efforts were underway to clear the road by district administration.
The road to Batswat village, Tehsil Ishkoman, District Ghizer was also blocked due to debris flow where rehabilitation of the route was in progress to restore the road by district administration.
All other roads and railway routes across the country were reported clear, it added.
No significant rainfall was reported during last 24 hours, it said. Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast for next 24 hours predicts, "Scattered thunderstorm and rain with moderate falls at isolated places are expected over the upper catchments of Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej alongwith Malakand, Hazara, Bannu, Kohat, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and D.G. Khan Divisions and Southeast Sindh and Northeast Balochistan. Isolated thunderstorm and rain is expected over D.I. Khan, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sahiwal, Multan and Bahawalpur Divisions alongwith upper catchments of River Indus".
The weather outlook for August 18 claims that no very heavy rainfall is expected amid same forecast for the catchments during the period.
The report said the weather remained hot and humid in most parts of the country. However,rain-thundershower with gusty winds occurred at isolated places in Multan, Bahawalpur, D.G Khan, Faisalbad, Kohat, Malakand, Peshawar, Quetta, Makran, Kalat and Sibbi Divisions.
