President of the German Association of Wholesale, Foreign Trade, Services (BGA) Holger Bingmann on Friday welcomed the upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel and stressed that the dialogue was crucial to improve the political situation between the countries.
MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th August, 2018) President of the German Association of Wholesale, Foreign Trade, Services (BGA) Holger Bingmann on Friday welcomed the upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel and stressed that the dialogue was crucial to improve the political situation between the countries.
"The economic-political environment has recently become even more difficult for the German-Russian trade. All the more we welcome the bilateral dialogue that has taken place at various levels in the recent months. It is only in dialogue ... can the political conditions be improved again," Bingmann said commenting on the meeting.
The president stressed that cooperation with Russia was instrumental for resolving many international issues.
"Russia is important economic and political partner for Germany, we cannot and do not want to do without. Together and in close coordination we can move forward many issues of the international importance," Bingmann said.
Putin and Merkel will meet in Berlin on Saturday. The two leaders are set to address bilateral relations, the situations in Syria and Ukraine as well as energy cooperation and the US sanctions, according to preliminary information from the German Cabinet and Kremlin.
