Russias Rostec Allocates $450Mln for Promotion of Industrial 3D Printing Technology

Russian state industrial conglomerate Rostec announced on Friday its plans to invest almost 3 billion rubles ($450 million) in the creation of a specialized center that would work to introduce 3D printing technologies into high-tech industries.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th August, 2018) Russian state industrial conglomerate Rostec announced on Friday its plans to invest almost 3 billion rubles ($450 million) in the creation of a specialized center that would work to introduce 3D printing technologies into high-tech industries.

"Additive technology, or industrial 3D printing technology, is one of the most dynamically developing areas of digital manufacturing The state corporation is investing almost 3 billion rubles in the creation of a special center on the basis of the Chernyshev Moscow Machine-Building Enterprise to develop this technology," Rostec said in a statement.

The entity will not only work for Rostec, but other companies as well, including the foreign ones.

By using 3D technology, objects are able to be created from a digital file by laying successive layers of material on top of each other with the use of special printers.

According to Rostec, this technology helps decrease the weight of produced items by 25 percent, lower the time of production by half and cut the cost of production by 44 percent.
