Serbian President To Travel To Kosovo Next Month

BELGRADE (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th August, 2018) Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on national television he planned to travel to Kosovo on September 9.

Speaking on RTS on Thursday, Vucic said his goals in talks with Kosovo authorities were to preserve peace and stability, to defend national and territorial interests, and to protect Serbs.

Kosovo unilaterally proclaimed independence from Serbia in 2008, a move not recognized by the central government and other countries.

The European Union persuaded Serbia in 2011 to work together with its breakaway southern province. This led to the signing of a Brussels agreement between Belgrade and Pristina in 2013.

A community of Serb municipalities was created in Kosovo two years later, which is a self-governing association of Serb-dominated regions.
