WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th August, 2018) The Trump administration has welcomed the $100 million that Saudi Arabia has pledged to provide for stabilization and recovery efforts in regions liberated from Islamist State terrorist group (IS, banned in Russia) control in Syria, the State Department said in a press release.
"The United States applauds todays announcement by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of its generous contribution of $100 million for ongoing, Coalition-supported stabilization efforts in areas liberated from ISIS [IS] in Syria," the release said on Thursday.
The Saudi contribution followed a request from President Donald Trump for partners to share the burden of promoting stability in Syria, the release added.
Some 150,000 internally displaced people have returned to the city of Raqqa and US partners are restoring essential services to residents of northeast Syria, the State Department said.
