US Energy Chief Perry, Mexican Counterpart Hold Talks On Boosting Partnership

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th August, 2018) Government officials from the United States and Mexico met in Mexico City to talk about strengthening the energy partnership between both countries, US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry said in a statement.

"Had a productive visit yesterday with Mexican Secretary of Energy-designate Rocio Nahle and Undersecretary for Hydrocarbons-designate Alberto Montoya on the future of US-Mexico energy. We look forward to continuing to build on our strong energy partnership," Perry said in a Twitter post on Thursday.

Perry was in Mexico City for the 2018 FIRST Global Challenge, a non-profit organization that focuses on STEM (Science, Technology, education, Math) activities. This year's challenge for the more than 1,000 high school students from around the world is about using robots to solve energy-efficiency problems.

Last week, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) said the United States is pushing ahead with energy integration with Mexico and Canada although development of a North American energy strategy was temporarily suspended amid ongoing NAFTA talks.
