Iraqi Air Force Destroys Headquarters of IS Terrorists in Syria - Security Forces

The Iraqi air force destroyed on Thursday a command center of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, outlawed in Russia, in Syria where the militants were preparing terror attacks, Iraqi security forces said in a statement.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 16th August, 2018) The Iraqi air force destroyed on Thursday a command center of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, outlawed in Russia, in Syria where the militants were preparing terror attacks, Iraqi security forces said in a statement.

"Fulfilling the orders of the commander-in-chief of the [Iraqi] Armed Forces � Iraqi F-16 jets successfully carried out an airstrike on the Syrian territory," the statement said, as quoted by the Al-Sumaria broadcaster.

According to the statement, the command center was fully destroyed by the airstrike.

The Iraqi security forces also said that the airstrike had left several IS militants killed. The targeted terrorists were going to carry out suicide bombing attacks in Iraq within next several days, according to the Iraqi intelligence.

Iraq has been carrying airstrikes against IS positions in Syria with the authorization of the Syrian government.

Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with the government forces fighting against numerous opposition groups and terrorist organizations.
