Russian Space Center Starts Building Last Soyuz-FG Rocket With Ukrainian Parts - Source

The Progress Rocket Space Center in Russias Samara started building the last Soyuz-FG, a carrier rocket which uses Ukrainian flight control avionics, a source in the space industry told Sputnik on Thursday.

SAMARA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 16th August, 2018) The Progress Rocket Space Center in Russias Samara started building the last Soyuz-FG, a carrier rocket which uses Ukrainian flight control avionics, a source in the space industry told Sputnik on Thursday.

"Samara rocket builders are halting production of this modification of the Soyuz rocket. Now, one Soyuz-FG rocket is at the final stage of production, and we are beginning work on another one, for which components are being ordered and assembly of individual parts is underway," the source said.

The last launches of Soyuz-FG carriers are set to be take place between 2018 and 2019, the source went on, adding that from 2020, Russia would only use Soyuz-2 and Soyuz-2.1 rockets.
