US Completes Exercises With Iraq, Kuwait Navies in Northern Arabian Gulf - Central Command

The US Navy and Coast Guard just finished exercises in the Arabian Gulf with the navies of Kuwait and Iraq, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a press release on Thursday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 16th August, 2018) The US Navy and Coast Guard just finished exercises in the Arabian Gulf with the navies of Kuwait and Iraq, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a press release on Thursday.

"The US Navy and Coast Guard completed a trilateral exercise with Iraqi navy and Kuwaiti navy partners in the Northern Arabian Gulf, August 15," the release said.

CENTCOM explained that the goal of the trilateral exercise was to improve maritime security tactics and ensure freedom of navigation in the area where the US 5th Fleet operates.

The operations included live fire exercises, search and seizure team training, infrastructure protection drills and high-value unit protection, the release said.

The US 5th fleet operates in 2.5 million square miles of water, which includes the Arabian Gulf, Gulf of Oman, Red Sea and parts of the Indian Ocean.
