MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 16th August, 2018) The Turkish security forces have killed, captured or forced to surrender five members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which is listed as a terrorist organization in the country, in the course of counterterrorism operations in Turkey's eastern region, local media reported on Thursday, citing the Turkish General Staff.

According to the Anadolu news agency, the militants were neutralized during Wednesday's airstrikes in the province of Bingol.

The tensions between Turkey and the PKK, which seeks autonomy for the ethnic minority of Kurds within the country, escalated in July 2015 after the ceasefire agreement collapsed over a series of terror attacks allegedly carried out by the PKK.
