MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 16th August, 2018) About 650 firefighters and over 40 aircraft are engaged in extinguishing of fires in Australia's most populous state of New South Wales, the local firefighting service said on Thursday.
"As of midday today there are 81 bush & grass fires burning across NSW, 38 are uncontained. Almost 650 firefighters continue to work on these fires assisted by more than 40 aircraft," the firefighting service said on Twitter.
The extinguishing of fires is complicated because of strong wind, the service specified.
Earlier in August, the region was declared entirely in drought.
