Militants in Syria Hand in 6 Mortars, 3 Missiles Over Past 24 Hours - Russian Military

Militants in Syria's provinces of Daraa and Quneitra handed in an infantry combat vehicle, six mortars and machine guns as well as three missiles over the past 24 hours, Maj. Gen. Alexei Tsygankov, head of the Russian Center for Syrian Reconciliation, said on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 16th August, 2018) Militants in Syria's provinces of Daraa and Quneitra handed in an infantry combat vehicle, six mortars and machine guns as well as three missiles over the past 24 hours, Maj. Gen. Alexei Tsygankov, head of the Russian Center for Syrian Reconciliation, said on Wednesday.

"Former militants of illegal armed groups in Daraa and Quneitra provinces ... surrendered one infantry combat vehicle, a field hospital ... six mortars, three anti-tank guided missiles, six heavy machine guns as well as 0.5 tonnes of ammunition [over the past 24 hours]," Tsygankov told a briefing.

According to Tsygankov, the Russian medical personnel provided medical aid to 185 Syrians, including 106 children, over the past 24 hours.

Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with the government forces fighting against numerous opposition groups and terrorist organizations. Russia along with Turkey and Iran are guarantors of the ceasefire regime in Syria.
