Two Russian Cosmonauts Go on Spacewalk

Russian cosmonauts Oleg Artemyev and Sergei Prokopyev have headed outside the International Space Station (ISS) for a spacewalk, a Sputnik correspondent reported on Wednesday from the Russian Mission Control Center.

KOROLYOV (Russia) (Pakistan Point news / Sputnik - 15th August, 2018) Russian cosmonauts Oleg Artemyev and Sergei Prokopyev have headed outside the International Space Station (ISS) for a spacewalk, a Sputnik correspondent reported on Wednesday from the Russian Mission Control Center.

The cosmonauts activities in the outer space will last for more than six hours.

Artemyev and Prokopyev will manually launch four nanosatellites, install the ICARUS equipment, designed for the Russian-German experiment on monitoring the migration of birds and animals, onto the external surface of the Russian segment of the space station as well as retrieve samples with microorganisms from the hull.

The cosmonauts will use panoramic cameras to shoot their activities.

The previous spacewalk performed by Russian cosmonauts took place on February 2, when Anton Shkaplerov and Alexander Misurkin spent eight hours and 13 minutes outside the ISS.
