Cambodia's Ruling CPP Party Won All Parliamentary Seats in July Vote - Reports

Cambodia's ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) won all 125 parliamentary seats in a general election held on July 29, local media reported on Wednesday citing the National Election Committee.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 15th August, 2018) Cambodia's ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) won all 125 parliamentary seats in a general election held on July 29, local media reported on Wednesday citing the National Election Committee.

The CPP won 77.36 percent or 4,889,113 votes, beating its closest competitors from the royalist Funcinpec party with 309,364 votes and Khmer Will political party with 212,869 votes, according to the Khmer Times newspaper.

The turnout in the election was 83.02 percent, the newspaper said.

Cambodia's minor political parties Khmer Economic Development Party and the Reaksmey Khemera Party earlier rejected the preliminary election results that were published following the election.

The United States said it would consider additional measures to respond to Cambodia's "flawed" vote including an expansion of the visa restrictions announced on December 6.
