Maryam Nawaz falls sick in jail, gets air conditioner

Maryam Nawaz’s health was deteriorating due to heat and humidity while her sugar level was also rising. 

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 15th August, 2018) Maryam Nawaz, incarcerated in Adiala Jail along with father Nawaz Sharif and husband Capt (r) Safdar in Avenfield Reference, gets the facility of an air conditioner.

According to media reports, Maryam Nawaz’s health was deteriorating due to heat and humidity while her sugar level was also rising.

Following this, Maryam Nawaz was given the facility of air conditioner in jail.

Earlier, a picture of the application given by Maryam Nawaz for air conditioner facility in jail had gone viral on social media. The application seeks provision of air conditioner facility in central jail, Rawalpindi on medical grounds.

The application was reportedly sent to the jail authorities on August 9. The jail authorities have not given an official statement over this.

Sources however said that Maryam Nawaz had not given a formal application for getting the facility air conditioner. The caretaker government itself installed AC in her barrack.

Earlier, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was provided the facility of an air conditioner in jail upon the directions of Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Dr Hassan Askari Rizvi following illness.

According to Punjab Prisoners department, the former prime minister has been given this facility over the report of his doctor Azhar Kiyani.

Jail sources said that it is the first time that a prisoner has been given the facility of an air conditioner.

An accountability court had given 11 years imprisonment to Nawaz Sharif, seven years to Maryam Nawaz and one year to Capt (r) Safdar in Avenfield property judgment on July 6.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz were arrested from the Lahore airport on July 13 and were transferred to Adiala jail in Rawalpindi. Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz are being kept in B-class of Adiala Jail. The B-class jail has facilities such as a 21-inch television, newspapers, a bed and fan.
