Hustle and bustle in markets ahead of Eid-ul-Azha

As the countdown for Eid-ul-Azha has begun, a large number of citizens especially women and children have been rushing to busy markets and shopping malls in the federal capital to purchase required items for the occasion

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Aug, 2018 ) :As the countdown for Eid-ul-Azha has begun, a large number of citizens especially women and children have been rushing to busy markets and shopping malls in the Federal capital to purchase required items for the occasion.

A report aired by a private news channel said , eid shopping is gaining momentum as large crowds of people are being witnessed in various markets and bazaars of the city.

The festive fever has gripped all the markets with bakery, confectioneries and toy shops witnessing a heavy rush of customers.Serpentine queues were witnessed at ATM outlets and Banks.

A citizen Amna Sheikh said garments shops seen over crowded with children of all age groups who came with cherished faces trying to grab every attractive dress or shoes of their choice in their custody. Bina Haroon a customer at a shop in F-10 markaz said, "kids are excited for Eid because they get to buy all the stuff of their choice whether it is new clothes or toys. You have to keep them happy".

Ahmed Ali, who owns a shop at Islamabad's Super market, said: "Bangles and henna attract women, irrespective of their age as they say there's no Eid without bangles.

" Ayan Owais, a government employee with his family said, children joy is source of happiness for him and his wife so they fulfil their demands first rather than buying anything for themselves.

A housewife added that at this Eid family gatherings at lunch and dinner are so common so she bought recipe books, stylish crockery and other house hold stuff.

Ikram Khan, a utensil shop owner said, at Eid-UL Azha, his sale increased to double with high demand of new dinner sets, cutlery items, utensils, iron rods for bar b Que and coal stoves etc.

Shopkeepers make an immense profit around the arrival of Eid. It is at this point that people who end up shopping last minute as tailors refuse to take orders, leaving buyers with little time to look for other options.

Traders take full advantage of this situation by raising their prices knowing that consumers will make the purchase regardless of the high price.
